As quarantine continues and we approach summer, more events are being cancelled and postponed. The latest is the 2020 Little League World Series. An event that every kid dreams in being a part of, and something that all baseball fans enjoy watching. Many Major League stars have come out of Williamsport like Cody Bellinger, and Todd Frazier. It looks like fans will have to wait till next summer to see the games next big star. This is the first time since the organization began in 1947 that the tournament has been cancelled. Little League International has cancelled the world series along with other regional tournaments. The Leagues President Stephen Keener announced that the spring and summer regular seasons will go on, assuming that the states guidelines are eventually lifted. Because the fact that the tournament requires state wide traveling as well as nationwide traveling Keener said that it would be “impossible” to hold this type of event. No teams from out of the country would be allowed into the U.S and most teams from other states would even be allowed to leave their respected states. The league was celebrating its 75^th year next year in 2021, but that will have to be pushed back to 2022 since the cancelation. Keener understood that people would be upset with the termination of the regional tournaments but he said “It would be irresponsible and impossible to bring teams and thousands of people from all over the world into the community of Williamsport as well as those other six communities that have been such great friends and supporters over the years”. The boys tournament along with the girls softball tournaments have been cancelled as well. The MLB Little League classic that was set for late August has also been cancelled.  The safest thing to do right now is to keep everyone where they are so that in the coming years they can hold the tournament as planned with no issues. The Problem with it now is that all of these teams are in tight quarters and even if the guidelines are pulled in the coming weeks everyone can still be at risk especially because of so much international travel.
