This past week the brother of recently drafted star QB Tua Tagovailoa, Taulia, is transferring from Alabama, to the Maryland Terrapins to look for a starting job with the team. On Alabama, Taulia had limited playing time as a freshman, even after his brother suffered a dislocated hip in the season early, so he is looking to make a showing with Maryland after he is cleared to play. Because of transfer rules, Taulia must sit out the upcoming year, depending on if the season will be underway, and he hopes to be giving the starting job once he is eligible.
Tualia was a highly touted high school player just like his brother, leading to him being given a scholarship for the highly touted Crimson Tide, just like his brother. However, he is looking to make a name for himself on a different team in hopes of finding success just like his brother. Taulia was originally considered to be likely to transfer to a college in Florida to stay close to Tua, but Taulia decided that Maryland was the best fit for him in his career. We will see in the future if this was the right move.
