Imani Jenkins, Christina Stone, and Lindsey Metcalfe earn Player of the Year Awards, 8 Hawks Named to CNE All-Conference Teams

The Hawks first season in CNE produces big results, as Hawks await winner of #5 Endicott vs #4 West New England

In Hartford Women’s Soccer’s first year eligible for All-Conference nominations in the Conference of New England, eight Hawks players earned All-Conference team selections, while Imani Jenkins, Christina Stone, and Lindsey Metcalfe received “Player of the Year” awards.

Offensive Player of the Year / All Conference First Team: F Imani Jenkins.

Fresh off a season in which she set the single season goals record, Forward Imani Jenkins continued to secure her status as one of the all-time greats of Hartford Women’s Soccer. Jenkins led the entire Conference of New England in Goals with 22, Points with 50, and 6 game winning goals. Her performance this season was highlighted by her performance on September 28th, where her penalty score against Roger Williams University moved her into 1st All-Time for career goals. Since that game, Jenkins scored 14 more, pushing her record to 75 Goals.

Defensive Player of the Year / All Conference First Team: CB Lindsey Metcalfe.

Lindsey Metcalfe, the junior out of Palos Verdes, California, had a season to remember at Center Back for the Hawks. The 6′ centerback was a workhorse all season for the Hawks, playing in all 17 games, and playing 1,472 minutes. Having only missed 58 minutes the entire season, Metcalfe averaged 86.3 minutes per game. The Hawks defensive anchor was an important piece to Goalkeeper Sejal Johnson’s 6 shutout performances this season, as Metcalfe was not only able to mark her attacker, but move across the pitch if needed to stop an opposing attack.

Scholar Athlete of the Year / All Conference First Team: MD Christina Stone.

Many times during this season, midfielder Christina Stone has been referred to as the “quarterback” of the Hartford Hawks attack. A graduate student from Glastonbury had another career season, tying her own single season record from 2023 by recording 19 assists. Stone’s season was highlighted by her October 26th performance against the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where she set a career high in assists in a game with 5. On October 9th against UMass Dartmouth, “Stoney” recorded her program record 34th career assist.

All Conference Second Team:

  • F: Kathleen Brush
  • D: May Cervone
  • GK: Sejal Johnson

All Conference Second Team: F Kathleen Brush

  • Kathleen Brush was apart of the Hawks attack that at times was unstoppable this season. Finishing the season 5th in goals (11) across the Conference of New England, Brush’s relentless movement down the wing saw her be an effective attacker as a goal-scorer and as a playmaker. Brush was named CNE Player of the Week on October 14th, after recording 4 Goals, and 4 assists during the week.

All Conference Second Team: D May Cervone

  • May Cervone was one of the more underrated players on this Hawks team. The starting right back throughout the Season, Cervone was stout on the defensive line, while contributing heavily to counter attacks and attacking play. With 2 goals and seven assists this season, Cervone’s season was highlighted by her 3 Assist game against Nichols College on October 15th.

All Conference Second Team: GK Sejal Johnson

  • Sejal Johnson’s season can be described as one of legend. With 6 shutouts this season, Johnson was tied for second in Conference of New England play. 33 Saves this season and 11 goals conceded the entire season, Johnson conceded a career low 0.76 goals per game.

All Conference Third Team: MID Reese Sadler

  • Sadler shined in conference play this season, showing herself to be a stallworth and stifling other teams transitions from defense to attack. Sadler recorded 3 goals this season–2 in conference play–and started all 16 games.

All Conference Community Team: D Andrea Buzas

  • Buzas was criminally underrated playing next to CNE Defensive Player of the Year Lindsey Metcalfe. Buzas recorded over 1000 minutes this season, and rarely made mistakes on the pitch.

This rounds out the Conference Nominations for the Women’s team, and the Conference of New England nominations for the Men’s team will be announced at 3 PM Today.
