A woman was set on fire in New York City this morning and NYPD is actively searching for the suspect.
It is believed that the woman was asleep on the train when she was sent on fire by a man who approached her and “threw a lit match onto her causing her to burst into flames” (NY POST). It was stated that multiple liquor and alcohol bottles had surrounded the woman, so it is currently uncertain if that played a part in the magnitude of the fire.
The woman was declared dead at the scene once EMS and the Police had arrived to extinguish the fire, leaving the F train service suspended for the rest of the day.
Police are stated to be looking for this man:
“Police released photos of the individual, who they believe is around 5’6” tall and approximately 25-30 years old. He was seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots” (NBC New York).
It was stated that the man had slipped away from authorities after watching the woman burn from a nearby bench in the station.
As of right now, neither the woman nor the suspect have been identified as STN, will keep you updated on the developing story.
