Ryan Routh, the man who allegedly attempted to assassinate President Trump at his golf club, was convicted of all 5 charges of his alleged attempted assassination of President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, September 23rd, the jury finished their deliberations within 2 hours, to come to the final verdict of finding Routh, guilty on all counts of “attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate, using a firearm in furtherance of a crime, assaulting a federal officer, possessing a firearm as a felon, and using a gun with a defaced serial number” (ABC).

Routh was arrested on September 15, 2024, in connection to the attempted assassination of previously, Former President Donald Trump. The alleged attempted assassination, happened at Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, when “a Secret Service agent…of Trump spotted an AK-style rifle sticking out of a fence at the golf course. The agent immediately engaged with the person holding the rifle. That’s when the suspect took off in a Black Nissan” (npr).

At the time the suspect was unidentified, with a witness coming forward and identifying the car description, when the suspect had taken off. As Routh, was detained on Interstate 95, only a few moments later after fleeing. When Routh was detained, he was said to be clam and did not resist or attempt to flee again.

Trump, sent out an email, at the time stating, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” (npr).

Then stated of social media:

I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes – It was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE. THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”(X)

Fast Foward to this year, and Routh’s trial began on, Thursday, September 11, with Routh, representing himself upon the agreeance of US Judge, Aileen Cannon. The case against Routh, was stated that, Routh planned to “kill trump for weeks” (AP), that Routh, hid in the bushes of the golf course, with a military grade sniper.

Routh countered that argument, with a statement that he “lacks the capacity to kill” (ABC), claiming that he did not intend to shoot President Trump.

As the verdict was being revealed, on Tuesday, Routh attempted to stab himself in the neck with a pen. Routh was taken out of the courtroom and was allowed back in by Judge Cannon.

Routh’s daughter had to be removed from the courtroom also after stating, “He didn’t hurt anybody. This is not fair. This is all rigged. You guys are a——s” (ABC).

Routh was informed that he would be sentenced on December 18, 2025.
