Womens Basketball Team Wins Home Opener

The University of Hartford's women's basketball team picked up a victory in their home opener with a 24-point win against the Columbia University Lions. The team was led by Danielle Hood who finished her second straight game with more than 20 points, finishing the night with 26. MaryLynne Schaefer and Erica Beverly combined to lead the team with eight rebounds each while Schaefer and Senior Courtney Gomez finished second on the team in scoring. The victory is the fifth-straight home opening win for the hawks and second straight win for the women this season. Nine players finished the night with at least a point, including freshmen Amanda Weaver who recorded her first collegiate basket. Next the Hawks will play at BYU on Tuesday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. The rematch of Hartford's win at home against BYU last year can be heard on WWUH.
