Glastonbury boys soccer pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win over Tolland on Tuesday, September 15, with the game coming down to the final seconds. Tolland, the two-time defending Class M state champion and defending CCC champion, took a 1-0 lead, and things got even tougher for Glastonbury when Paul DiSanto received a red card in the second half. That left Glastonbury playing with only 10 players for the rest of the game.
Even down a player, Glastonbury found a way back. Adam Kukulka scored the tying goal with 11:46 remaining, giving the Guardians a chance to complete the comeback. Just when it looked like the game would end in a tie, senior captain Brady Nilsen scored the game-winning goal with only 15 seconds left. Nilsen had also injured his finger earlier in the game but taped it up and returned to play. The 2-1 win kept Glastonbury unbeaten and gave the Guardians a big early-season victory over one of Connecticut’s top teams.
