Women’s Soccer Drops First Round Match to Rutgers

The University of Hartford women’s soccer team fell to the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers 2-0 last Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Piscataway, New Jersey. Hartford struggled to get things going offensively as they couldn’t manage a shot on goal the entire game. The lone bright spot for Hartford was goalie Liz Cook as she made seven saves in the contest.
Rutgers took a 1-0 after the first half when Jenifer Anzivino scored her sixth goal of the year. After the half, Rutgers put the icing on the cake when they went up 2-0 after a Caycie Gusman goal in the 81st minute.
Hartford finished the season with a 10-9-2 overall record and was undefeated in the America East Conference.
“The way we ended this season, it was just a great experience for us,” head coach John Natale said on Hartfordhawks.com. “Everything we went through this year we can grow from, and next year we have a lot to look forward to.”
