Move-In Day for University sophomores, juniors, and seniors has been delayed until Monday and Tuesday (Aug. 29 and 30), due to the expected significant impact of Hurricane Irene in Connecticut on Sunday. The University will be officially closed on Sunday, Aug. 28, and is urging returning students to delay their return to campus.
Please monitor the University’s website or your University email, or check the main University phone line (860-768-4100) for messages, as they will be updated as needed. Conditions permitting, returning students will be able to check-in on Monday, Aug. 29, in Gengras Student Union beginning at 12 noon until 8 p.m. or on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The University has delayed the first day of classes until Wednesday, Aug. 31, to allow sufficient time for returning students and their parents to adjust their travel schedules.
Move-In for first year students is still scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27, on an expedited basis beginning at 7 a.m. Students who cannot or do not wish to come on Saturday may move in on Monday or Tuesday.
Our paramount concern is for the safety of first-year students and others who have already arrived on campus. The University does have contingency plans, including back-up generators that should keep power on for the freshman residence halls, the dining halls, the academic buildings, and our Facilities/Operations Center, and is securing building windows and outdoor furniture and signage.
Effective 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, through 8 a.m. Monday morning, Aug. 29, the University will close parking lots C, D, E, and F due to flooding concerns. Cars should be moved to lots A, B, M, the front of N, or the Village lots. Once again, check the University’s website on Monday morning before moving your car back to its assigned spot.

The men’s soccer game Saturday has been moved to 1 p.m.
