On Monday November 4th, Public Safety hosted a self defense class for students. Participants were taught useful techniques including weak point identification and how to escape from common grabs.
In addition to tactics, the presentation emphasized the importance of situational awareness, and placed a special emphasis on the Livesafe app. Officers Kelley and Takahshi made sure to highlight the app’s features like discreet requests for help and the ability to Request a ride from anywhere on campus.
The class was conceptualized by RAs who wanted to aid their residents in forming safe habits for life on campus. It was one of several that Public Safety is responsible for teaching throughout the year.
