On this day in 2013 it marked the last time that Manchester United were at the top of the English Premier League. 7 years ago today the Red Devils defeated Aston Villa with a score of 3-0 to secure the EPL title. Striker Robert Van Persie was the man who led them to this victory with his memorable hat trick to secure the title for United. This was Manchester United 20th all time league title, which today is still the most by any club in England.
This also marked the last season that legend Sir Alex Ferguson would manage the club, after his 26 years at the club becoming the winningest coach at a club winning 38 total trophies, which included 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, and 2 UEFA Champions Leagues.
Since the retirement of Ferguson the Red Devils have not been the same, going through 4 different coaches and still looking to get back on top of the Premier League once again.
