UHart Mandates COVID-19 Vaccine for Returning Students

University’s vaccine mandate has students hoping for a rollback on pandemic restrictions for 2021

On June 22nd the University of Hartford announced that they will be requiring all students to be vaccinated before returning to campus for the fall semester. Using the student health portal launched back in April, the University is asking that campus members upload their vaccine information (either one dose of Johnson and Johnson or two of Moderna) by August 15th for approval.

Along with the decision, the University is hosting virtual workshops & one-on-one consultations with campus healthcare workers in an attempt to dissolve vaccine hesitancy.  However, UHart will be permitting both religious and/or medical exemptions for those who wish to forego the shot.

By requiring the vaccine, UHart hopes to minimize pandemic policies put in place for the entirety of last year and allow for students to return to a normal on-campus experience. This includes in-person classes, an allowance for guests, and a mostly mask-free environment.
