The UHart Administration announced changes to the University’s COVID policy on October 16, loosening restrictions for on-campus students but increasing restrictions for off-campus gatherings. This week randomized testing produced zero positive tests among the 25% of randomly chosen students.
This occurred after weeks of the gradual decrease of on-campus cases, thus leading University Administration to loosen restrictions for students living in Hawk Hall and in Neighborhoods A-F by now allowing these residents to have one guest in their room from the same floor. Although no changes have been made to the guest policy for the suites and apartments, the Administration claims they will continue to monitor cases in hopes of potentially relaxing these rules.
As for off-campus regulations, however, rules have tightened up as Connecticut’s positive case raised has increased to 2.4%, announced by Ned Lamont earlier this week. Specifically, gatherings for off-campus housing cannot exceed 10 people.
Along with these changes, the University Administration advises students to continue wearing masks, social distancing, along with participating in daily screenings and weekly testings.
