From an ancient Egyptian mummy to furniture owned by Mark Twain, the Wadsworth Museum has many past and present art pieces available.
Group Visit Coordinator Lee Oliver said, “One of the things that I think makes it different is that we can appeal to so many different people. If you come in here…and all you see is yellow lets say, then you can walk around the corner and find American art, and that might be your cup of tea.”
There are many different exibitions throughout the museum, one that holds
Pompain frescos from the walls of the mid-first century A.D. Oliver said these frescos are reminiscent of Monet’s Water Lily Paintings. There’s also work from 4000 B.C. in the ancient galleries, and it goes all the way through medievil galleries, the Renissance up through the history paintings in Morgan Grey Hall. The museum is knowon for its American art collection. The museum “coers everything”
THe museum contains a theater which shows movies three times a week, as well as a cafe. Admission and tours are free with your student ID.
